Product description

Introduction

This red wine comes from France, specifically the Burgundy region in the Côte de Nuits subregion. The specific vineyard, 'Les Cailles,' is a Premier Cru site located on the southern part of the Nuits-Saint-Georges commune. Bouchard Père & Fils is one of Burgundy’s oldest wine houses, founded in 1731 and is based in Beaune. Its history includes the acquisition of the historic Château de Beaune in 1820, where the cellars beneath the former royal fortress provide ideal conditions for ageing the wine. The winemaking philosophy is centred on expressing the terroir and respecting the vintage.

Wine Description

This Premier Cru is a red wine made entirely from Pinot Noir. It presents a purple colour with black and violet reflections. The bouquet is intense, offering notes of black fruit blended with oaky touches and delicate spice. Other aromatic notes include black cherry and blueberry, along with licorice. On the palate, the wine is full and fleshy, ample, and round, with a medium to full body. It has an elegant structure based on delicate tannins. The wine shows a very good potential for ageing. The optimal drinking window extends to 2045. The ABV is 13.5% or 13%. The wine is produced under the philosophy of Agriculture Raisonnée (sustainable farming), and its grapes are hand-harvested and manually sorted. The source material did not indicate if the wine is organic.

Food Pairing

Suggested pairings for this powerful red wine include game, venison, and meats in sauce. It also pairs well with duck, goose, and other game birds.
