Product description

From the Winemaker - The NV14 is the richest, most dense Cain Cuvée we’ve ever bottled. The wine is dark and the bouquet is shy. You won’t really “get it” until you put it in your mouth and savor its firm, round fullness and smooth texture. The wine finishes with a satisfying bitterness.

The NV16 illustrates perfectly the way in which two vintages blended together can complement one another. 2015 was a moderately warm year with very low yields, while 2016 had higher yields and was cooler. 2016 gave us some lovely, light, perfumed wines, while 2015 plumps it up with roundness and warmth. The signature of the Cain Vineyard comes through clearly, while the vineyards in Rutherford, Oakville, and Carneros each contribute their part. The result, NV16 Cain Cuvée, has a bouquet of raspberries, red cherries, forest, and earth, but the best is the palate. This one steps lightly and with elegance—mouth-filling without being heavy, it slips down easy to a delicate, clean finish. Exactly what we want.  48% Merlot, 31% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc, 8% Petit Verdot.

93 Points - James Suckling    An aromatic red with plum, ripe-strawberry and flower undertones. Full body, soft tannins and a savory finish. Gorgeous now. A blend of merlot and cabernet with some franc and petit verdot. A blend of 2013 and 2014.
