Product description

In the prestigious Bordeaux region, Château Haut Brion resides in the Pessac Léognan subregion of Graves. Recognized as the oldest of the Bordeaux First Growth estates, its history dates back to the 16th century, and it has been owned by Domaine Clarence Dillon since 1935. The château is renowned for its dedication to precision and innovation, consistently producing wines that reflect both tradition and the unique character of its exceptional terroir.

Wine Description
The 2016 Château Haut Brion reveals a deep, opaque ruby colour, exuding concentration and depth. Aromatically, the wine opens with layers of blackcurrant, plum, graphite, cigar box, and subtle floral notes, all interwoven with a gentle smokiness. On the palate, the blend—composed of approximately 56% Merlot, 37.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 6.5% Cabernet Franc—delivers remarkable power balanced by finesse, featuring velvety tannins, a core of ripe black fruit, and hints of spice and earth. Full-bodied and impeccably structured, the wine finishes long and savoury, with extraordinary freshness and mineral precision. Best enjoyed from 2026 to 2060, it is a benchmark example of the château's mastery in both richness and elegance.

Vintage Quality
The 2016 vintage in Bordeaux is widely celebrated as exceptional, marked by a cool, wet spring and a perfectly warm, dry summer that allowed for slow, even ripening. The result is a vintage of remarkable balance, purity, and ageing potential, with Château Haut Brion achieving extraordinary finesse and depth through meticulous vineyard and cellar work.
