The 1996 vintage exhibits a deep garnet color with slight brickish hues at the rim, indicative of its maturity. The nose is complex and expressive, offering aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, cedarwood, fresh mint, and subtle floral notes, all harmoniously integrated with hints of oak. On the palate, it is full-bodied and opulent, displaying remarkable depth of flavor. The mid-palate reveals refined, silky tannins, leading to a controlled yet tender finish. Vintage Quality
The 1996 vintage in Bordeaux was characterized by very good, almost ideal weather conditions. A cool and wet winter allowed the vines to rest and recover, while a warm and dry spring initiated the vegetation cycle around mid-April. Although May was generally cool, delaying flowering by a week, warm and sunny weather in June ensured even flowering. July and August were hot and dry, with rains at the beginning of September, leading to a harvest of high-quality grapes with remarkable depth of flavor.
