CVNE (Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España), established in 1879, is a family-owned winery located in the heart of Rioja, Spain. Renowned for its dedication to quality and tradition, CVNE has been producing exceptional wines for over a century. The Imperial label, first produced in the 1920s, is one of the great names in Spanish winemaking and is only made in vintages that the company classifies as excellent.
Wine Description
The 2017 Imperial Gran Reserva Rioja displays a bright garnet color. On the nose, it reveals aromas of licorice, typical of the Tempranillo grape, along with forest fruits and notes of cloves, roasted coffee, cigar leaf, chocolate, caramel, and balsamic undertones from barrel aging. The palate is fine and elegant, with a deep and fatty mid-palate that envelops it. Friendly tannins and a touch of acidity provide a long and complex aftertaste. This wine is designed to last and improve over time, with an optimal drinking window extending over the next decade.
Food Pairing
This Gran Reserva pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, grilled steak, or aged Manchego cheese. It also complements dishes like mushroom risotto or charcuterie platters. These pairings highlight the wine’s depth and character, creating an unforgettable dining experience.
