Grgich Hills Chardonnay 2017

Product description

Grgich Hills Estate is an iconic Napa Valley winery, consistently producing world-class wines.  Called 'The King of Chardonnay' since the winery began in 1977, vintner Hall of Fame inductee Miljenko “Mike” Grgich first earned world-wide recognition when the 1973 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay that he crafted won the 1976 Paris Tasting, beating the best of France.  Mike then partnered with Austin Hills to open their family-owned-and-operated winery in 1977.  Committed to natural wine growing and sustainability, Grgich farms their five estate vineyards without artificial fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides, rely on wild yeast fermentation and use their passion and art to handcraft food-friendly, balanced and elegant wines.

Grgich did not allow the 2017 Chardonnay to undergo malolactic fermentation, preserving its natural acidity. The wine displays crisp Fuji apple, honeydew melon and a hint of cashew nut aromas and flavours. Enjoy with fresh seafood, roasted chicken, grilled pork, and creamy cheeses.

93 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2017 Chardonnay features compelling key lime pie, fresh grapefruit and toasted almonds notes with hints of sea spray, struck match and ginger. Medium-bodied, the palate is elegant and charged with energy, revealing a racy backbone that beautifully extends the zest and spice laced finish.

91 Points - Wine Enthusiast

Nutty, floral and earthy, this white has a crisp entry of wet stone and earthy white flower. Exotic and well integrated, it shows a lovely mix of pear, mango and peach that finds vibrancy through a backbone of balanced acidity.
