Product description
This is an expressive, highly aromatic white wine that is also characterized as an Orange Wine due to skin contact. The appearance is noted to be cloudy with a light fizz, and an orange colour. The wine offers a powerful aromatic profile, featuring notes of lychee, peach, rose petal, and citrus zest, alongside hints of sage, wildflowers, tropical fruits, and candied orange peel. On the palate, expect a lifted, dry, and expressive profile with clarity to the fruit, a soft texture, and a bright, well-rounded acidity that pulls the flavours together. Subtle hints of spices, herbs, pine mushroom, ginger, gooseberry marmalade, and salty minerality add complexity. The wine is structured, complex, and charismatic, embodying a singular take on the varietal.
The varietal composition is 100% Gewürztraminer, sourced from low-yielding, 40-year-old vines planted on limestone and sand soils. Two-thirds of the grapes are destemmed and pressed directly into neutral oak barrels for fermentation, while the final one-third is fermented on the skins for several weeks to add dimension and texture. It is fermented and aged for about a year (12 months) in used 500-litre oak barrels and bottled unfined, unfiltered, and with zero sulphur added. This wine is certified Biodynamic (Demeter certified) and Organic.
Food Pairing
-
Suggested pairings include oily fish, soft cheeses, charcuterie, smoked meats, foie gras, and sushi with a touch of wasabi. The wine’s aromatic intensity and structure also make it a delicious complement to a tuna melt, as well as nutty and savoury cheeses like Cheddar and Gruyere.
A perfect match to enhance the wine's complexity.
