Joseph Drouhin Chassagne Montrachet Morgeot 'Marquis de Laguiche' Premier Cru 2021

Product description

This is a wonderful occasion to savour a great wine. Admirable light golden colour. Intense and elegant aromas come to the fore : hawthorn, apricot notes, evolving towards hints of blond tobacco. As the wine ages, there are nu- ances of dried fruit and rare spices. A silky texture and a subtle touch of tannin give a true personality to the wine. Remarkable aftertaste. A great white Burgundy.

Due to the refinement of their bouquet and the elegance of their flavors, these great white wines are unquestionably destined to accompany haute cuisine: shellfish cooked in a light wine sauce (court-bouillon) or any delicate fish (such as Dover sole) prepared grilled or poached.

95 Points - James Suckling

Beautifully intense nose of lemon verbena, star fruit, spiced pears, cloves and a touch of cedar. Full-bodied and precise, with fantastic freshness, developing breadth and depth. Phenolic tension at the end. Very long. Try from 2024.

91+ Points - Vinous

The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot 1er Cru (Marquis de Laguiche) has a more complex and engaging bouquet than the preceding Meursault-Perrieres with lovely dried flower and light nectarine scents, an underlying mineralite that should develop with bottle age. The palate has plenty of vigour, perfectly-judged acidity with impressive weight on the finish. This just seems to unfurl and it should provide immense pleasure.
