Product description

Originating from the United States in California’s Napa Valley, specifically within the cooler southern Coombsville subregion, Paul Hobbs Cabernet Sauvignon Coombsville Napa Valley 2022 represents a masterclass in single-appellation precision. Founded by celebrated pioneer Paul Hobbs in 1991, the estate has long been recognized for its relentless pursuit of terroir-driven excellence and meticulously detailed winemaking. The Coombsville estate vineyard benefits from volcanic soils and moderating marine breezes from San Pablo Bay, yielding wines with vibrant freshness, fine-grained structure, and distinct cool-climate complexity.

Wine Description

The wine displays a striking garnet and dark crimson colour in the glass. A complex, expressive nose reveals aromas of dark cassis, wild blackberry, and huckleberry, complemented by fragrant accents of violets, graphite, tobacco leaf, cedar box, and dried sagebrush. On the palate, it delivers a broad and richly layered profile featuring vibrant flavours of dark cherry, dried cranberry, and star anise supported by an undercurrent of crushed slate and oyster shell minerality. Full bodied and supple, it is framed by polished, velvety tannins that glide into a long, lingering finish marked by lingering notes of dark chocolate and savory earth. Composed predominantly of Cabernet Sauvignon complemented by small portions of Petit Verdot, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, this release offers an optimal drinking window of 2026–2040. Stylistically, it effortlessly marries southern Napa Valley fruit intensity with remarkable poise, cool freshness, and structural balance.
