Product description
Rivetto's Nebbiolo d'Alba Vigna Lirano Amphora 2022 is a red wine from the Piedmont region of Italy. Produced by Enrico Rivetto, the first certified biodynamic winemaker in the Barolo area, this wine exemplifies a commitment to natural and sustainable viticulture. The Nebbiolo grapes are cultivated on the Lirano hill, situated at an altitude of 400 meters with western exposure, on calcareous clay soils near the border of the Barolo zone.
Wine Description
This 100% Nebbiolo wine is crafted using spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in terracotta amphorae, a method that preserves the purity of the grape's expression. The wine undergoes extended maceration in these neutral vessels, allowing for a natural micro-oxygenation that softens tannins and enhances complexity.
In the glass, it presents a luminous ruby hue. The nose is vibrant, offering aromas of ripe red berries, violets, and subtle earthy undertones. On the palate, it is harmonious, with fresh acidity and fine-grained tannins supporting flavors of cherry, raspberry, and a hint of spice. The finish is elegant and persistent, reflecting the wine's balanced structure.
Food Pairing
This Nebbiolo pairs well with a variety of dishes, including roasted meats, game, and aged cheeses. Its fresh acidity and refined tannins complement rich flavors, making it a versatile choice for hearty Italian cuisine.
Additional Notes
The use of amphorae in winemaking is a nod to ancient practices, allowing for a pure and unadulterated expression of the Nebbiolo grape. Rivetto's dedication to biodynamic principles and minimal intervention results in a wine that authentically reflects its terroir and vintage.
