Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon 'The Reserve' To Kalon Vineyard 2018

Product description

This is the eighth vintage of their To Kalon Vineyard-designated Reserve. When Robert Mondavi chose this vineyard in west Oakville as the home for his new winery in 1966, he remarked that it was "a vineyard with a distinguished history and a magical nature. Ideal soils, sunlight, and rain. To my eye, the vineyard was a treasure." Each year the blend reflects the Grand Cru quality of this singular vineyard. The Reserve is blended from the finest blocks within the To Kalon Vineyard and meticulously crafted by keeping each block or sub-block separate through fermentation and aging until they create the blend the following year.

95 Points - Jeb Dunnuck

Gorgeous aromas of lead pencil, graphite, blackcurrant, earth and moss. Full-bodied with silky, creamy tannins. Juicy and expressive, with incredible depth and complexity. The palate keeps going, too. Fruity and powerful at the start, but it turns more mineral and savoury by the end. Superb.

94 Points - Wine Spectator

Dark and winey, with a smouldering intensity to the flavours of black currant preserves, fig paste and plum reduction. The structure is loamy, rich and driven in feel, while tobacco and warm stone accents play their supporting role. A brick house with an old-school feel. Best from 2023 through 2036.
