Product description

For years, vintners have coveted a stretch of land in the western end of Santa Barbara's Santa Rita Hills AVA known to have the perfect microclimate, soils, and exposure to grow world-class Pinot Noir. In 1999, fulfilling a long-held dream of owner Bob Davids, this sought-after stretch of land became Sea Smoke Vineyard.

Each year, the goal for Southing is to create the ideal marriage of complexity and elegance. The ever-changing nose of the Southing exhibits Montmorency cherry, sage, hibiscus and subtle baking spices. The fine tannins and minerality are enhanced by our estate vineyard’s characteristic cool climate acidity.

Wine Description

The 2021 'Southing' Pinot Noir presents an evolving bouquet with notes of watermelon, jasmine, Victoria plum, and subtle baking spices. On the palate, it offers fine tannins and pronounced minerality, complemented by the estate vineyard's characteristic cool-climate acidity. This wine underwent 16 months of barrel aging in exclusively French oak, with 28% new barrels, contributing to its complexity and depth.
