Solaia 2005

Product description

The Antinori family has been committed to the art of winemaking for over six centuries since 1385 when Giovanni di Piero Antinori became a member of the "Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri," the Florentine Winemaker’s Guild. All throughout its history, twenty-six generations long, the Antinori family has managed the business directly making innovative and sometimes bold decisions while upholding the utmost respect for traditions and the environment.

Solaia, which means the ‘sunny one' in Italian, is a 25-acre south-west facing vineyard that is contiguous to the Tignanello Vineyard in Chianti Classico. Solaia is produced only in exceptional years.

Intense ruby red in color with aromas of ripe fruit, spices, blackpepper, chocolate, coffee and vanilla. Generous, vibrant and balanced on the palate with sweet, mouthfilling tannins, minerally hints and weight and character enhanced by the complexity and finesse. The wine is incredibly evocative of its terroir, with a long, distinctive finish.

97 Points - Wine Spectator

Gorgeous aromas of blackberry, mineral and flowers follow through to a full body, with superfine tannins and a long, long finish. A complex and wonderfully structured red. Long and beautiful.
