Product description

Tignanello is one of the most iconic wines produced by Marchesi Antinori, a family with over 600 years of winemaking heritage. The estate is located in the heart of Chianti Classico, between the Greve and Pesa river valleys, where the Antinori family pioneered a revolutionary approach to winemaking in Italy. First released in 1971, Tignanello was among the first Italian wines to incorporate Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc in a Sangiovese-based blend, breaking traditional winemaking norms. It was also the first modern red wine in Chianti Classico to be aged in small French oak barrels, setting a benchmark for the Super Tuscan movement.

Wine Description

The 2021 Tignanello is a blend of 79% Sangiovese, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 8% Cabernet Franc. The wine displays a deep ruby red color with purple highlights. The aromatic profile is complex, with ripe blackberries, plums, and candied orange peel, intertwined with notes of dark chocolate, caramel, licorice, and sweet tobacco. On the palate, it is rich, structured, and full-bodied, with vibrant tannins and a long, lingering finish. The balance between freshness, intensity, and elegance makes this vintage particularly compelling.

Food Pairing

This wine pairs exceptionally well with veal Parmesan, aged ribeye steak, wild mushroom risotto, and venison tenderloin. The richness of these dishes complements the wine’s structure and depth, enhancing its complexity and elegance. Together, they create an unforgettable dining experience.

Vintage Quality

The 2021 vintage in Chianti Classico benefited from an exceptional growing season, marked by a long, slow ripening period that allowed the grapes to develop fully. The mild autumn weather in September and October contributed to optimal phenolic maturity, resulting in a wine of great depth, power, and finesse.
