Product description

Nervi Conterno Gattinara 2022 originates from Italy, produced in the Gattinara DOCG within the subregion of Alto Piemonte. Founded in 1906, Nervi is the oldest winery in the Gattinara appellation and boasts exceptional holdings across volcanic, mineral-rich soils. In 2018, the estate was acquired by Roberto Conterno of the iconic Giacomo Conterno Barolo estate, who introduced his traditional winemaking philosophy—combining long maceration and extended aging in large oak casks to express the pure character of Alto Piemonte.

Wine Description

In the glass, this red wine presents a pale ruby colour with delicate red-orange highlights near the rim. The nose is aromatic and complex, revealing notes of fresh cherry, wild strawberry, Parma violet, orange peel, and sweet spices blended with underlying hints of tobacco, white pepper, and wet stone. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with tense, fine-grained tannins and a vibrant, salty acidity. Flavours of crushed red fruit, blood orange, and subtle dried herbs lead to a long, polished finish with lingering notes of liquorice and subtle smoke. Crafted from 100% Nebbiolo (locally known as Spanna) and aged for 36 months in large oak barrels, this wine exhibits extraordinary freshness, balance, and fine-cut elegance, offering an optimal drinking window from 2026 through 2038.

Food Pairing

The vibrant acidity and structured tannins of this Nebbiolo make it a superb accompaniment to braised beef short ribs, roasted veal loin, and wild game like venison. It also aligns effortlessly with baked pasta dishes, rich mushroom risotto, or aged Italian cheeses such as Parmigiano-Reggiano and Pecorino.
