1731 Belize 7 Year Old is a single-origin rum released by the independent bottler 1731 Fine & Rare. The brand takes its name from the year the British Royal Navy officially began issuing rum rations to sailors. This expression is sourced from the famous Travellers Liquors distillery in Belize and is distilled using a traditional column still. Adhering to the 1731 philosophy, the rum is 100% tropically aged for at least seven years in ex-bourbon American white oak barrels and is bottled without added sugar, colorants, or chill-filtration to preserve its authentic character.

Spirit Description

In the glass, the rum displays a lustrous dark gold to amber hue. The nose is inviting and complex, leading with aromas of vanilla, toffee, and toasted oak, followed by warm baking spices like cinnamon and nutmeg, and a touch of tropical fruit. On the palate, the spirit is rich and oily, delivering flavors of butterscotch, juicy mango, and ripe apricot, which transition into savory notes of tobacco, dark chocolate, and roasted coffee. Despite its 46% ABV, the mouthfeel is remarkably velvety and well-integrated. The finish is medium-long and warming, leaving a lingering trail of salted caramel, cocoa, and a faint hint of sweet wood smoke.
