Product description

1921 Tequila Anejo originates from the Highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, specifically within the subregion of Arandas. Established in 1996 by founder Juan Francisco Collado, the brand was created to share Mexican culture and history, with its name specifically honouring the conclusion of the Mexican Revolutionary War. The distillery, Destileria Morales, follows traditional 18th-century production methods, utilizing slow-steaming in adobe and stone ovens followed by gentle extraction using a 'tahona' (giant millstone) to preserve the agave's authentic essence.

Description

This 100% Blue Weber agave tequila displays a brilliant amber-yellow hue with copper shades and a silky body that produces slow-descending 'tears' in the glass. The aromatic profile is complex and sweet, featuring prominent notes of honey, vanilla, and chocolate balanced by toasted wood and a hint of citrus. On the palate, it is exceptionally soft and rich, offering a diverse array of dried fruit, caramel, and butterscotch flavours supported by a gentle smokiness and spicy undertones. This medium-bodied spirit concludes with a long, warm, and velvety finish.

Food Pairing

The rich, oak-influenced profile of this Anejo pairs beautifully with savory grilled meats, such as a wood-fired ribeye steak or smoked beef cheek, which mirror the spirit's natural smokiness. For a more delicate experience, try it with creamy Manchego cheese to highlight the wood barrel notes, or traditional spicy Mexican dishes like 'cochinita pibil' to balance the heat with caramel sweetness.
