The Aizu Homare Peach Nigori Sake is from Japan, specifically the historic Aizu region in Fukushima Prefecture. The Homare Sake Brewery was founded in 1918 by Kosaku Karahashi in Kitakata City, a town famous for its abundant pristine water and kura (storehouses). The brewery sits at the foot of Mount Iide, "the mountain worshipped as a god," and uses its incredibly soft, high-quality subterranean water for brewing. The name "Homare" translates to "honor" or "glory," reflecting the founder's wish to create a sake that is the pride of the region.
Description
This is a luscious, fruity style of unfiltered sake (nigori) blended with pure peach juice. The sake has vibrant aromas of ripe white peach, fresh cream, and subtle hints of steamed rice. The palate is characterized by a velvety, smoothie-like texture that balances the natural sweetness of the fruit with the gentle tartness of the sake base. It is bottled with coarse rice sediment, giving it a cloudy appearance and a rich mouthfeel. The finish is refreshing and juicy, not overly cloying. The ABV is roughly 8% to 9%.
