Product description
This structured and 'crystalline' white wine originates from France, within the historic Puligny-Montrachet A.O.C. appellation of the Côte de Beaune region in Burgundy. Domaine Alain Chavy was established in 2003 following the division of the historic Domaine Gérard Chavy estate between brothers Alain and Jean-Louis. Operating under a precision-focused winemaking philosophy that respects the chiseled, mineral-driven purity of classic Burgundy, Alain Chavy crafts this village-level bottling from several choice, low-yielding plots totaling roughly 3.5 hectares. The heritage vines are rooted in the village's signature limestone-dominant soils mixed with marl and gravelly scree. This classic geological matrix naturally forces the roots deep into the rock, yielding a Chardonnay that perfectly captures the intense structural tension, precision, and noble chalky minerality that makes Puligny-Montrachet a global benchmark for white wine.
Wine Description
The Alain Chavy Puligny-Montrachet presents a brilliant, pale straw-yellow color in the glass with youthful green and silvery reflections. Its sensory profile is exceptionally elegant, deep, and high-toned, striking a beautiful balance between mineral restraint and understated citrus flesh. The bouquet opens with a captivating, multi-faceted display of crisp white peaches, green apples, and lemon oil, seamlessly layered with complex undertones of crushed flint, white blossoms, hazelnuts, and a light touch of dynamic pastry dough. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, tightly wound, and precisely focused, showcasing a chiseled core of lime zest, orchard fruits, and clear salinity. It is characterized by its outstanding inner energy and an incisive, mouthwatering backbone of natural acidity that drives straight through the mid-palate. The mouthfeel is transparent and aristocratically broad yet athletic, driven by a fine, chalky mineral tension that carries into a long, dry, and clean finish accented by lingering notes of toasted almonds, cold stones, and white pepper.
