Product description
Originating from France in the Burgundy region, specifically within the regional Bourgogne Chardonnay appellation bordering the village boundaries of Meursault in the Cote de Beaune, Domaine Albert Grivault Bourgogne Chardonnay 'Clos du Murger' 2022 represents an exceptionally high-quality, rich, and mineral-driven expression of classic Chardonnay. Produced by Domaine Albert Grivault, a world-famous domain based in Meursault and managed by the Bardet family, this historic estate is celebrated for its precise winemaking and legendary vineyard holdings. Sourced from Clos du Murger, a walled 0.92-hectare estate-owned plot situated directly below Meursault village on well-drained clay and limestone soils, the winemaking philosophy combines traditional viticulture, hand harvesting, gentle pneumatic pressing, temperature-controlled native yeast fermentation, and careful aging in French oak barrels (approximately 15% to 20% new) to craft a wine marked by remarkable generosity, citrus purity, and Meursault-like mineral complexity.
Wine Description
The wine presents a luminous, clear pale straw yellow colour with brilliant golden reflections near the rim. An expressive, fragrant bouquet opens with inviting aromas of ripe yellow apple, white peach, lemon oil, and fresh pear, interwoven with delicate nuances of hazelnut, acacia flower, crushed chalk, and gentle toasted oak. On the palate, it is medium bodied, satiny, and harmonious, delivering generous flavours of citrus curd, stone fruit, and subtle baking spice, all supported by a bright, mouthwatering spine of natural acidity. Framed by a creamy texture and an energetic mid-palate, it concludes with a long, satisfying finish marked by lingering citrus zest and stony limestone minerality.
