Owned by Beam Suntory, Alberta Distillers is globally recognized as a powerhouse producer of 100% rye whisky, supplying high-grade rye distillates across North America for decades. Building on the massive success of their earlier Cask Strength Rye iterations, the 2025 Release pairs a defined 10-year age statement with un-cut, un-chilled cask strength proof, delivering an intense, complex, and unadulterated showcase of Canadian prairie rye.
Spirit Description
Alberta Premium Cask Strength 10 Year Old is distilled from a 100% rye mash bill using locally sourced Alberta fall rye, renowned for its hardy character and deep spice. The distillate is aged for a minimum of 10 full years in charred American white oak barrels in the dry, high-altitude climate of Calgary, Alberta. Bottled straight from the cask without cold filtration or water dilution, it balances aggressive rye heat and peppery spice with rich oak tannins, dark fruit, and deep caramel sweetness.
Colour: Dark copper amber with rich polished bronze glints and thick, heavy legs in the glass.
Aroma: Bold, fragrant, and wood-forward. Opens with intense rye spice, cracked black pepper, and clove, followed by dark caramel, vanilla bean, dried cherries, toasted oak, and a subtle trace of mint and dill.
Palate: Massive, rich, and spice-accented on the entry. Strong upfront flavors of baking spice, dark chocolate, and brown sugar give way to toasted oak, pipe tobacco, dried plum, and a punchy, warm rye heat.
Body: Full-bodied with a heavy, coating, and viscous mouthfeel that easily handles its high ABV.
Finish: Exceptionally long, warm, and lingering, trailing off with persistent toasted oak tannins, cracked pepper, dark molasses, and a dry, refreshing mint snap.
ABV: Bottled at Cask Strength, typically ranging between 67.
