Originating from Chile in the renowned Maipo Valley region, specifically within the high elevation Puente Alto subregion, Almaviva 2023 represents a benchmark icon born of a historic joint venture. Established in 1997 through a groundbreaking partnership between Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Chateau Mouton Rothschild and Vina Concha y Toro, the estate was created to bring French winemaking savoir-faire to exceptional Chilean terroir. Under the direction of winemaker Michel Friou, Almaviva's philosophy centers on producing a single grand vin that harmonizes power, elegance, and distinct expression of place.

Wine Description

The wine displays an intense, deep, and opaque ruby red colour in the glass. A broad and complex nose opens with aromas of ripe cassis, wild strawberry, and blackberry, interwoven with subtle accents of dried herbs, tobacco, cedar, graphite, and exotic spices. On the palate, it exhibits outstanding amplitude and balance, delivering a lush, velvety mouthfeel packed with dark berry fruit, sweet cocoa, and mineral undertones supported by a lively, tensile spine of natural acidity. Full bodied yet remarkably refined, it finishes long and smooth with polished, well-integrated tannins and lingering spice notes. Composed of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Carmenere, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot, this release offers an optimal drinking window of 2026–2046. Stylistically, it combines generous fruit concentration and approachable roundness with traditional balance, freshness, and structural finesse.
