Product description
This fortified style wine originates from Spain, produced in the Montilla Moriles region within Andalusia. Founded in 1729, Bodegas Alvear is one of the oldest wineries in Spain and remains family owned. Made entirely from Pedro Ximénez grapes naturally high in sugar, the base wine achieves its alcohol strength naturally during fermentation before undergoing decades of aging in traditional American oak solera systems.
Spirit Description
This expression displays a deep mahogany and amber hue with brilliant copper clarity. The nose is intense and deeply complex, offering aromas of toasted hazelnut, roasted almond, caramel, and saddle leather, accompanied by subtle nuances of dried fig, marmalade, and sea salt. On the palate, it is bone dry and medium to full bodied with a sharp, vibrant acidity. Distinct flavours of walnut, orange zest, dried fruit, and saline minerality dominate the mouth, leading into a rich umami character. The finish is remarkably long, dry, and savory, leaving a persistent impression of toasted wood spice and dried nuts. Bottled at an ABV of 17%, it delivers impressive elegance, freshness, and structural complexity.
