Product description
Amaro dell'Etna originates from Italy, within the island region of Sicily in the subregion of Mount Etna. Crafted since 1901, the historic spirit was created from an authentic recipe featuring a blend of wild herbs and aromatic plants grown in the rich volcanic soil surrounding the volcano. Today, the house continues to preserve its regional heritage, utilizing traditional maceration and distillation methods to produce its flagship Sicilian digestif.
Spirit Description
This artisanal amaro presents a deep mahogany, amber appearance in the glass. The complex sensory profile opens with an aromatic nose dominated by bright bitter orange peel, licorice root, spice, and subtle floral nuances, laced with notes of vanilla. On the palate, the body is rich, smooth, and remarkably well balanced, delivering a harmonious contrast between initial sweet citrus notes and a structured, herbal bitterness. The finish is exceptionally long, dry, and warming, leaving trailing undertones of dark spice, persistent herbs, and a delicate mineral edge. This traditional digestif is bottled at an alcohol by volume of 29%.
Accolades
As an iconic emblem of Sicilian distilling, this expression has earned tremendous critical acclaim in international competitions. Highlights include a Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and top honors across major European spirits reviews, where it is celebrated for its authentic volcanic terroir and balanced complexity.
Food Pairing
The complex citrus sweetness and structured bitterness of this amaro make it an outstanding digestif after a rich meal. It pairs brilliantly with dark chocolate desserts, espresso infused tarts, or traditional Sicilian cannoli. For a savoury match, it serves as an excellent partner to a cheese board featuring aged pecorino or blue cheeses alongside roasted nuts.
