Amatiteña Tequila Reposado is an ultra-premium, additive-free spirit produced in the town of Amatitán, Jalisco. Crafted at Cava de Oro (NOM 1477) by third-generation Master Distiller Alberto Partida, the brand is celebrated for reviving "ancestral" techniques in a region often called the "Cradle of Tequila". It is currently one of the few brands on the market to exclusively employ 19th-century artisanal methods, such as using mesquite-wood-fired stone ovens, which bridge the flavor gap between traditional tequila and smoky mezcal.
Spirit Description
This reposado is unique for its "minimalist" aging process, resting for only 2 to 3 months in either American White Oak ex-bourbon barrels or large-format French Limousin oak pipones. This brief contact with wood is designed to soften the spirit's "wild" edges while allowing the bold, smoky agave to remain the primary focus.
Appearance: Bright straw or golden sunflower yellow.
Nose: A complex and evolving bouquet of cooked agave and mesquite smoke, giving way to orange zest, cinnamon, and soft vanilla with a hint of green pea shoots.
Palate: Rich and oily with a buttery mouthfeel. It features a "spirited" entrance of pepper and baking spices, followed by flavors of roasted carrot, salted honey-butter, and raisin.
Finish: Medium to long, characterized by lingering smoke, black pepper, and a sweet "crème brûlée" note.
Technical Details: Bottled at a robust 42% ABV (84 proof), which contributes to its thick, large body.
