Product description
This structured and 'aristocratic' white wine originates from Chile, within the cool-climate Limarí Valley A.O.C. appellation in the northern Coquimbo region. Produced by Concha y Toro under its icon tier and led by chief winemaker Marcelo Papa, Amelia represents a groundbreaking milestone for ultra-premium Chilean white wine. Sourced exclusively from the historic Quebrada Seca Vineyard, located just 22 kilometers from the Pacific Ocean, the vines are rooted in ancient red clay soils over a deep, calcareous limestone bed. Limarí’s extreme coastal desert microclimate features persistent morning coastal fog (camanchaca) and cool ocean breezes that temper the bright equatorial sunshine, enabling Chardonnay grapes to achieve complete phenolic maturity during an extraordinarily long ripening period while preserving a chiseled, age-worthy natural acidity and intense saline minerality.
Wine Description
Amelia Chardonnay presents a luminous, pale straw-gold color in the glass with bright platinum and chartreuse reflections along the rim. Its sensory profile is exceptionally fresh, high-toned, and complex, delivering an energetic, laser-focused, and mineral-driven portrayal of cool-climate Limarí terroir. The bouquet opens with a soaring display of fresh lime zest, green apple, and white peach, seamlessly layered with complex underlays of orange blossom, toasted hazelnut, pastry crust, flint, and a distinct line of crushed limestone and saline minerality. On the palate, the wine is medium-to-full-bodied, sleek, and athletic, showcasing a vibrant core of crunchy orchard fruit, lemon curd, and salted melon. It is characterized by its outstanding inner energy and an incisive, mouthwatering backbone of natural acidity that effortlessly cuts through the mid-palate fruit volume. The mouthfeel is broad, supple, and linear, framed by seamless French oak integration gained from gentle fine-lees stirring (bâtonnage), carrying into an extraordinarily long, dry, and mineral-driven finish accented by persistent notes of lime peel, toasted almond, and sea salt.
