The Angel's Envy 2026 Cask Strength Bourbon (15th Edition) is a premium, limited-release Kentucky Straight Bourbon produced in Louisville, Kentucky. Marking a significant shift in the distillery's tradition, the 2026 release was moved from its usual autumn debut to a springtime launch on April 17, 2026, to align with the Kentucky Derby season. Under the direction of Master Distiller Owen Martin, this edition moves away from a standard age statement to focus on a Solera-inspired process, where portions of previous years' cask-strength releases are blended with newer distillate to create a continuous 'evolution' of flavour.
Spirit Description
The 2026 edition is a complex blend of bourbons distilled between 2014 and 2019, including 'mother liquid' from the 2023, 2024, and 2025 releases. Approximately 37% of the total blend consists of these re-casked prior releases, which were double-matured for up to 3.5 years in hand-selected Ruby Port barrels.
Colour: Rich amber with ruby reflections.
Aroma: Opens with evocative notes of cherry cordial, strawberry cheesecake, and salted caramel, transitioning into spiced oak, vanilla crème, and toasted nuts.
Palate: Full-bodied and velvety, featuring layers of apple cider, red wine, and creamy chocolate ganache, underscored by nutmeg, barrel spice, and gingerbread.
Body: Robust and viscous with a pronounced mid-palate that balances decadent fruit with structured oak tannins.
Finish: Long and elegant, carrying notes of citrus preserves, jammy dark chocolate, and blackberry jam, with a pleasantly dry and tannic exit.
ABV: Bottled at 58.9% (117.8 proof).
