Product description
Appleton Estate Hearts Collection 1998 is a rare, 25-year-old single-marque Jamaican rum representing the eighth edition of the prestigious Hearts Collection. The spirit is a collaborative project between Appleton Estate Master Blender Dr. Joy Spence and renowned rum expert Luca Gargano of Velier. Founded in 1749 in the Nassau Valley, St. Elizabeth, Appleton Estate is the oldest distillery in Jamaica. The estate is currently owned by the Italian Campari Group, which acquired it through the purchase of J. Wray & Nephew in 2012.
Spirit Description
This limited edition consists of only 2,706 bottles worldwide, blended from a selection of nineteen casks. It is distilled in 100% Forsyth copper pot stills from molasses and aged for 25 tropical years on the estate in ex-bourbon barrels.
Colour: The rum possesses a beautiful amber-orange to deep copper appearance.
Aroma: Intense and ester-forward, it features overripe tropical fruits, sharp citrus peel, and herbal notes alongside coffee, molasses, and holiday-spiced vanilla syrup.
Palate: Powerful and muscular with a smooth texture, offering deep flavours of orange peel, ginger, espresso, and dark chocolate layered with vanilla, toasted nuts, and butterscotch.
Body: It is highly concentrated and heavy with congeners, providing immense complexity and a smouldering warmth.
Finish: Exceptionally long and dry, dominated by toasted oak, molasses, and lingering spice.
ABV: This rum is bottled at a high strength of 63%.
