Argiano's vineyards are located in the Montalcino area where a perfect microclimate assures a super ecological system. Varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Sangiovese are planted. These grapes have not traditionally been part of the Montalcino area.
In a complex phase of change of ownership, Argiano is retaining exceptional quality levels, as evidenced by the acknowledgments which year after come in thick and fast. Some of the best exposed Montalcino plots, which benefit from a particularly favourable microclimate at around 300 metres altitude, have produced a classic, powerful, fascinating and balanced Brunello.
94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
With only 3,500 bottles made, the 2012 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva reveals luscious opulence and fruity richness. Like its peers from this hot vintage, this Riserva offers a softer and sweeter quality of fruit with extra textural richness at the back. This makes the wine more accessible without too much of a wait. It is aged in oak for two years and offers plenty of baking spice, white chocolate and cola on the velvety finish.
94 Points - James Suckling
Plenty of ripe fruit with a wealth of plum and dark berry character. Rich and powerful. Full to medium body, firm and silky tannins and a flavorful finish. I love the edgy tannins at the end that give it form. Beautiful now.
