Product description
Originating from France in the Champagne region, specifically within the Montagne de Reims, Armand De Brignac Brut Gold 6L represents an opulent, prestigious, and masterfully blended prestige cuvée presented in a rare Methuselah format. Produced by the historic Champagne Cattier family—independent winegrowers based in Rilly-la-Montagne since 1763—Armand De Brignac (famously known as "Ace of Spades") embodies an uncompromising commitment to artisanal craftsmanship. Sourced from premier and grand cru parcels spanning chalky terroirs across the Montagne de Reims and Côte des Blancs, the fruit is selected exclusively from the initial, freshest portion of the gentle traditional basket press (la cuvée). Under father-and-son winemakers Jean-Jacques and Alexandre Cattier, the house crafts this cuvée by blending three distinct vintages to achieve stylistic consistency and layered depth, followed by maturation for years in deep chalk cellars over thirty metres underground. Finished with a bespoke liqueur de dosage aged for one full year in French oak barrels, this colossal six-litre format delivers extraordinary textural richness, creaminess, and extended cellar longevity.
Wine Description
The wine presents a luminous, clear pale gold colour with warm amber reflections and an exceedingly fine, persistent mousse. An expressive, highly perfumed bouquet opens with noble aromas of ripe peach, candied lemon peel, apricot, and crisp green apple, interwoven with sophisticated notes of warm brioche, toasted almond, acacia blossom, honeyed ginger, and subtle French oak vanilla. On the palate, it is full bodied, silken, and expansive, delivering concentrated flavours of citrus oil, baked orchard fruits, and savoury mineral earth, all supported by a bright, mouthwatering spine of natural cool-climate Champagne acidity. Framed by a rich, creamy mid-palate structure and seamless effervescence, it concludes with an extraordinarily long, persistent finish marked by lingering lemon curd, toasted brioche, and a clean chalky mineral grip. Composed of a classic blend of Pinot Noir (40%), Chardonnay (40%), and Pinot Meunier (20%), this multi-vintage release offers immediate celebratory appeal along with cellaring potential over 8 to 15 years in large format. Stylistically, it combines opulent texture, vibrant dosage integration, and celebratory luxury.
