Product description
Avión Reserva 44 Extra Añejo is the pinnacle expression produced in the Highlands (Los Altos) of Jalisco, Mexico. The brand was founded in 2010 by Ken Austin and acquired by Pernod Ricard in 2018. Distilled at the Productos Finos de Agave distillery (NOM 1416) in Jesús María, this flagship small-batch release takes its name directly from its meticulous 44-month aging process.
Spirit Description
Avión Reserva 44 is produced from hand-harvested 100% Blue Weber agave grown at high elevations. After slow-roasting in traditional brick ovens and double distillation, the liquid undergoes a total of 44 months of aging. The spirit rests for 43 months in large American oak barrels before spending its final month in smaller "petite" oak casks that are physically rotated daily to maximize wood contact and draw out deep, concentrated barrel flavors.
Colour: Deep warm amber with rich golden copper glints.
Aroma: Intensely aromatic, opening with warm oak, vanilla bean, butterscotch, and toasted caramel, layered alongside roasted agave, cinnamon sugar, and subtle notes of dried fruit and marzipan.
Palate: Lush, silky, and decadent on the entry. It delivers rich layers of dark chocolate, butterscotch, tres leches creaminess, and vanilla, balanced by warm oak spice, black pepper, and cooked agave sweetness.
Body: Full-bodied with a round, velvety, and mouth-coating viscosity.
Finish: Long, gentle, and warming, tapering off with lingering notes of sweet vanilla, subtle cinnamon spice, toasted oak, and a hint of dark cacao.
ABV: Bottled at 40% (80 Proof) in a crystal decanter, individually numbered and signed by founder Ken Austin.
