Product description
Hailing from the renowned Barolo region in Piedmont, Italy, Azelia Barolo 2019 is a testament to the Scavino family's dedication to quality winemaking. Established in 1920, Azienda Agricola Azelia is currently managed by Luigi Scavino and his son Lorenzo, representing the fifth generation of this esteemed winemaking lineage. The estate focuses on producing expressive Nebbiolo wines that reflect the unique terroir of their vineyards in Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga d'Alba.
Wine Description
This Barolo is crafted exclusively from 100% Nebbiolo grapes sourced from seven distinct vineyards, including Altenasso, Solanotto, Cerretta, Bricco Voghera, San Rocco, Cerrati, and Broglio. The wine undergoes fermentation with ambient yeasts and benefits from a 40-day maceration period with a submerged cap technique, followed by aging in large Slavonian oak casks.
In the glass, the wine presents a deep garnet hue. The nose is intricate, offering aromas of cherry, strawberry, and floral notes, complemented by hints of licorice and blue flowers. On the palate, it is mid-weight and lively, showcasing depth and elegance characteristic of classic Nebbiolo. The structure is supported by fine tannins and balanced acidity, leading to a persistent finish.
