Introduction
Ballard Lane Pinot Noir originates from the United States, within the California region and the Central Coast subregion. The winery represents a family legacy backed by five generations of California farming. Their winemaking philosophy focuses on capturing the distinct character of the Central Coast by working with carefully selected vineyards that benefit from cool coastal climates and diverse soils.
Wine Description
This red wine displays a bright ruby or dark crimson colour and possesses a medium-bodied structure. The sensory profile is highly fruit forward, opening with an aromatic nose of ripe black cherries, strawberries, and cranberries, coupled with a confectionary edge of strawberry shortcake and baking spices like clove. On the fleshy and approachable palate, it delivers rich flavours of maraschino cherries and peppered raspberries, layered with darker chocolate notes, vanilla, and cocoa nibs. The finish is smooth and graceful, leaving a lingering impression of earthy tones, toasted French oak, and coffee.
Varietal Composition: Typically a blend of 91% to 98% Pinot Noir, occasionally rounded out with a small percentage of Petite Sirah.
Stylistic Notes: The wine is celebrated for its balance and smooth texture, achieving a harmony between fresh acidity, soft tannins, and subtle oak integration after aging for 4 to 5 months on French oak.
ABV: Typically recorded between 13.5% and 14.3%.
Organic Status: While the estate focuses on traditional, premium viticulture, this specific bottling is not certified organic.
