Banfi Cum Laude 2023

This prestigious and "super-Tuscan" red wine originates from the Montalcino region of Tuscany, Italy. Produced by the legendary Castello Banfi, the name "Cum Laude" (Latin for "with honors") reflects the estate's academic and meticulous approach to viticulture. The winery's philosophy for this bottling is to create a modern, international blend that highlights the versatility of the Montalcino terroir beyond traditional Sangiovese.

Wine Description

The Banfi Cum Laude presents a deep, intense ruby red colour. The sensory profile is exceptionally complex and "dense," featuring an aromatic nose of ripe blackberries, dark plums, and blackcurrants, layered with sophisticated notes of tobacco, black pepper, and dark chocolate derived from its oak aging. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and powerful, showcasing velvety tannins and a balanced acidity that provides a long, structured mouthfeel. It is characterized by its "modern and cosmopolitan" style, leading to a persistent finish with hints of licorice and roasted coffee beans.
