More Information
Product description
This wine originates from Italy, within Tuscany's Chianti region. Castello Banfi was founded in 1978 by the Mariani family in collaboration with renowned enologist Ezio Rivella, establishing a pioneering estate recognized for clonal research and sustainable viticulture. The "Superiore" designation reflects stricter production criteria, including lower vineyard yields and additional aging. The winery's philosophy combines classic Tuscan tradition with modern cellar techniques to create approachable, fruit-forward expressions of Sangiovese.
Wine Description
This intense ruby red wine opens with vibrant aromas of fresh wild cherry, red plum, and violet, complemented by subtle undertones of earth, leather, and gentle oak spice. On the palate, it is round and soft with a balanced core of dark berries and red fruits, framed by supple tannins and refreshing acidity. It features a medium body with a clean, smooth, and savory finish. The varietal composition is predominantly Sangiovese blended with Cabernet Sauvignon and Canaiolo. It has an alcohol content of 13% ABV and is not certified organic (though the winery holds sustainability certifications).
