Vinhos Barbeito is a renowned, family-owned winery, founded in 1946 by Mario Barbeito de Vasconcelas during a challenging period for Madeira. The winery is known for its commitment to traditional methods and for producing ‘super-pure, almost crystalline wines’ under the direction of Ricardo Diogo Vasconcelos Freitas. The Sercial grapes for this wine are sourced from various quality vineyards, including those in Jardim da Serra and Ribeira da Janela.
Wine Description
The wine displays a greenish gold colour. On the nose, it offers complex aromas of dried fruits, pine, and resin. The palate is mineral and salty, showing a strong and heady acidity. It is a dry and fresh wine that maintains its invigorating acidity throughout. The finish is long and dry, with some descriptions calling it 'almost endless'.
