Product description
Bearface Bear-Bon Whisky is an innovative Canadian whisky produced by Bearface Spirits in British Columbia, Canada. Known for its signature "elemental aging" process where whisky barrels are exposed to extreme seasonal weather shifts in re-purposed shipping containers in the Canadian wilderness Bearface created Bear-Bon to reimagine American bourbon style through a distinctly northern lens. Playfully named to honor bourbon-style production without violating geographic appellation laws, Bear-Bon pairs a corn-heavy Canadian mash bill with heavy oak charring, yielding a spirit that blends southern bourbon sweetness with smooth Canadian whisky craftsmanship.
Spirit Description
Bearface Bear-Bon starts with a core Canadian grain whisky distilled primarily from high-grade corn alongside select malted barley. The whisky undergoes primary maturation in ex-bourbon American oak barrels before entering Bearface's signature elemental aging process in the wilderness of British Columbia. It is finished in heavy virgin oak casks with intense charring (often referred to as alligator char). The high temperature swings of the Canadian wilderness force the spirit deep into the charred wood, imparting robust notes of sweet vanilla, toasted corn, and rich wood smoke without requiring geographic bourbon production.
Colour: Deep amber-copper with warm mahogany glints and slow, heavy legs in the glass.
Aroma: Sweet, wood-forward, and rich, opening with intense vanilla bean, charred oak, and dark brown sugar, followed by sweet toasted corn, butterscotch, dried apple, and gentle baking spice.
Palate: Full-flavored, smooth, and warm on the entry. Upfront sweet notes of caramel, maple cream, and sweet corn yield to charred oak, toasted coconut, dark chocolate, and a pleasant rye-like baking spice warmth.
Body: Medium-to-full-bodied with a velvety, mouth-coating, and rich texture.
Finish: Long, warm, and satisfying, trailing off with persistent toasted oak tannins, sweet vanilla, dark molasses, and a soft wood-smoke dryness.
ABV: Bottled at 40% ABV (80 Proof).
