Black Sage Cabernet Sauvignon 2023

Produced in Canada, this Cabernet Sauvignon originates from the Black Sage Bench, a prestigious subregion of the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia. Black Sage Vineyard was established in 1992 by visionaries Harry McWatters and Bob Wareham, who defied skepticism by planting late-ripening French vinifera vines in the rugged, sun-scorched terrain of the northern Sonoran Desert. Today, under the guidance of winemaker Jason James, the winery is renowned for its 'boldness redefined' philosophy, producing robust reds that capture the intense spirit of this unique, arid landscape.

Wine Description

This full-bodied and robust red wine displays a deep, dark color characteristic of its bold profile. The nose offers alluring scents of lush cherries and vibrant raspberries, layered with hints of vanilla, mocha, and a touch of earthy notes. On the palate, it reveals enticing flavors of dark cherries, cassis, and rich dark chocolate, complemented by baking spices and a distinct minerality. The structure is defined by firm yet approachable tannins and a bright acidity that leads to a long, lingering finish.

Food Pairing

• Grilled steak or roast beef, where the meat’s protein helps mellow the wine's firm tannins.

• Rack of lamb or a hearty lamb stew seasoned with rosemary and thyme
