Product description

The Blue Mountain Chardonnay is a premier expression from Canada's renowned wine region, the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia. Blue Mountain Vineyard and Cellars is a family run winery, established by the Mavety family, who have farmed this fertile bench overlooking Vaseux Lake since 1971. They are considered quality pioneers in the Okanagan Valley, releasing their first wines under the Blue Mountain label in 1991. The winery’s philosophy is to produce complex, age worthy wines that consistently express both the terroir of their South Okanagan site and the individual growing season.

Wine Description

The wine is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes. The fruit is hand harvested and whole cluster pressed, then barrel fermented and aged, typically for 14 months, in French oak barriques. The ABV for the Estate Cuvée Chardonnay is often around 14.40%. The wine presents a clear, bright, medium plus intensity lemon colour. On the nose, it offers medium plus intensity aromas of toast and ripe pineapple, complemented by subtle notes of roasted apple, sweet almond, and oak. The palate is dry, rich, and full bodied, showcasing a soft buttery texture with flavours of ripe pineapple, roasted apples, and toast. It is known for its intense flavour and creamy style, yet is pinned on fine acidity and minerality. The finish is long, leaving impressions of citrus, butterscotch, and toast. The wine is a testament to the purity of the fruit and is beautifully balanced, with a great balancing acidity.
