Product description

This wine originates from the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia, Canada, specifically from the Okanagan Falls subregion. Founded in 1971 by the Mavety family, Blue Mountain Vineyard and Cellars is a pioneer of the region, emphasizing a philosophy of minimal intervention and sustainable viticulture to showcase the unique terroir of their estate. The family focuses on producing complex, estate grown wines that reflect the potential of individual vineyard sites.

Wine Description

The Blue Mountain Gamay Noir presents a medium ruby colour and an aromatic profile of cherry, black raspberry, and fleshy plum mingled with white pepper and spice. On the palate, the wine is medium bodied and juicy, offering a core of red and black fruits seasoned with desert scrubby herbs and a flinty, savoury undercurrent. It is characterized by its bright acidity and soft, downy tannins, leading to a long, spicy finish. This varietal Gamay Noir is crafted with natural yeasts and aged in neutral French oak to maintain a balance of freshness and complexity.

Food Pairing

This versatile red wine is an excellent match for roast chicken with herbs, grilled pork chops, or planked salmon with a soy glaze. It also pairs beautifully with autumnal dishes such as mushroom tart or roast butternut squash.
