Macán, crafted by Bodegas Benjamin de Rothschild & Vega Sicilia, is the premier expression of the partnership between these two esteemed wine families. This remarkable wine is a pure representation of Tempranillo from Rioja, embodying the elegance, depth, and refinement synonymous with its producers and the region.

Winemaking and Aging

Macán is made exclusively from Tempranillo grapes, sourced from carefully selected vineyards in Rioja. These parcels, located on high terraces with gravelly, clay-limestone soils, yield fruit of exceptional quality. After fermentation, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in a mix of barrels and tanks. It is then aged for 15 months in fine-grain French oak barrels, predominantly new, with a smaller portion in once-used barrels. The wine is further refined in the bottle to achieve its perfect balance before release.

Tasting Notes

• Appearance: Deep garnet color with a vibrant intensity.

• Nose: Elegant and layered aromas of ripe blackberries, black cherries, and plums, complemented by notes of cedar, tobacco, and subtle hints of vanilla and spice.
