This vibrant and expressive red wine originates from the Langhe DOC in the Piedmont region of Northern Italy. Giacomo Borgogno & Figli, established in 1761, is one of the oldest and most historic houses in Barolo. The "Ancum" is a specialized "Cru" Dolcetto sourced from a single organic plot in Madonna di Como, an area renowned for producing the region’s most elegant expressions of this grape. The winery's philosophy for this bottling is to create a "sincere" wine that prioritizes high aromatic concentration and mineral purity.
Wine Description
The Borgogno Langhe Ancum Dolcetto 2023 presents a bright ruby red colour with distinct violet hues. The sensory profile is energetic and fresh, featuring an explosive nose of crisp red fruit, specifically wild cherry and strawberry, layered with sophisticated notes of balsamic herbs and white pepper emerging from the fermentation. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and "compact," showcasing a refined tannic texture and a refreshing acidity. It is characterized by its savory and mineral sensation, leading to an elegant, dry finish. This 100% organic Dolcetto has an ABV of 13% and was aged for 6 months in concrete tanks followed by 3 months in the bottle to preserve its vibrant primary fruit and "terroir" identity.
