Brinley Gold Shipwreck Coconut Rum is produced on the Caribbean island of St. Kitts by the St. Kitts Rum Company. The brand was founded in 2002 by the father-and-son team Robert and Zachary Brinley, who aimed to revitalize the island’s rum industry using high-quality, natural ingredients. The "Shipwreck" name pays tribute to a British troopship that sank off the coast of St. Kitts during the Battle of Frigate Bay in 1782, a historical event well-known to local divers.
