This pinnacle ultra-aged Irish whiskey originates from the north coast of County Antrim, Northern Ireland, crafted at the historic Old Bushmills Distillery—the world’s oldest licensed whiskey distillery (granted grant to distil in 1608). Bushmills 25 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey is a permanent ultra-premium flagship release, distilled from 100% unpeated malted barley using water drawn from Saint Columb’s Rill and triple-distilled in copper pot stills. The spirit begins its maturation in a combination of charred American oak ex-bourbon barrels and Spanish Oloroso sherry butts for four to six years, before undergoing an unprecedented, monumental 21-year finishing period in first-fill ruby port pipes. Hand-bottled at 92 proof (46.0% ABV) in a bespoke heavy-weight decanter bottle, it is non-chill filtered and bottled at natural color.

Spirit Description

This single malt displays a deep, radiant mahogany hue with rich copper and garnet reflections, leaving thick, slow-running legs along the glass. On the nose, it is remarkably deep, complex, and intensely perfumed, leading with lush red fruit compote, dark black cherries, damson plums, and ripe figs, before opening into layers of dark honey, sweet pipe tobacco, toasted almond, polished cedar, and warm vanilla bean. On the palate, the 46.0% ABV delivery feels opulent, velvety, and mouth-coating, bringing an immediate wave of juicy blackberries, candied orange peel, and dark chocolate ganache. The mid-palate introduces rich roasted walnuts, sweet baking spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice), and integrated, gentle oak tannins without any wood bitterness. The finish is exceptionally long, warm, and elegant, lingering with dried dark fruit leather, cocoa powder, sweet oak spice, and a trailing whisper of warming ruby port sweetness.
