Introduction

This red wine originates from Italy, produced in the Puglia region within the Castel del Monte DOCG. Rivera was founded in the late 1940s by Sebastiano de Corato, who sought to showcase the viticultural potential of the Murgia hills. The winery's philosophy combines traditional and modern techniques to craft wines that are true to their terroir while meeting international standards. Now in its third generation, the de Corato family continues to focus on indigenous grape varieties like Aglianico, emphasizing sustainable practices and quality.

Wine Description

The Rivera Cappellaccio Aglianico Riserva presents a dense ruby colour with a garnet red rim. The nose is intense and complex, offering aromas of black cherry, dried plum, and wild red berries, layered with notes of leather, pipe tobacco, liquorice, and balsamic herbs. On the palate, the wine is warm and full bodied, featuring a rich core of dark fruit and spices integrated with mineral freshness. It is characterized by its powerful structure and firm, grippy tannins that lead into a persistent and aromatic finish. This 100% Aglianico has an ABV of 13.5% to 14% and is matured for 12 months in a combination of French oak barriques and large Slavonian oak barrels, followed by a further year of bottle refinement.
