Product description

Cascina Penna-Currado Nebbiolo d'Alba Superiore 'San Sebastiano' 2023 originates from Italy, within the Piedmont region and the Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC subregion. Founded by Luca Currado Vietti and Elena Penna following their departure from the historic Vietti estate, this artisanal project is headquartered in Monforte d'Alba. The 'San Sebastiano' bottling is sourced from older vines (ranging from 15 to 65 years old) surrounding the San Sebastiano Chapel in Monforte d'Alba. Benefiting from the cooler microclimate and longer maturation period required by the Superiore designation, the wine spends 12 months aging in oak casks, essentially serving as a "Baby Barolo" in structure and longevity.

Wine Description

This red wine displays an intense garnet red colour. The nose opens with expressive aromas of red cherry, wild raspberry, and wild strawberry, complemented by ethereal floral notes of rose petals and violets alongside accents of lavender, sage, and graphite minerality. On the palate, it exhibits a medium body with an elegant, streamlined texture, where dark varietal fruit and bright citrus notes are supported by firm, silky tannins and vibrant acidity. Stylistically, the 2023 vintage balances the structural seriousness of Monforte d'Alba with fruit purity, finishing long and persistent with lingering savory spice and crushed stone minerality.
