Product description
This structured and 'aristocratic' red wine originates from the United States, within the premier Napa Valley A.V.A. in coastal Northern California. Produced by Caymus Vineyards one of Napa Valley’s most legendary winemaking dynasties, founded in 1972 by Charlie Wagner, his wife Lorna Belle Glos Wagner, and their son Chuck Wagner this bottling represents the quintessential, world-famous benchmark for opulent, fruit-forward California Cabernet Sauvignon. Sourced from choice vineyard parcels across multiple diverse sub-appellations of the valley floor and benchlands (including Rutherford, Oakville, Yountville, and Calistoga), the vines thrive in well-draining alluvial gravel, loam, and volcanic soils. Napa Valley’s warm Mediterranean climate brings intense solar exposure during the day, tempered by cool morning fog and evening marine breezes from San Pablo Bay, allowing Cabernet Sauvignon grapes to achieve signature phenolic ripeness, plush fruit concentration, and velvety structural tannins.
Wine Description
Caymus Vineyards Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon presents an opaque, deep purple-black color in the glass with vivid magenta and ruby-violet highlights along the rim. Its sensory profile is exceptionally bold, opulent, and complex, delivering an expansive, precise, and luxurious portrayal of classical Caymus styling. The bouquet opens with a soaring display of ripe cassis, black cherry jam, and wild blackberry liqueur, seamlessly layered with complex underlays of dark chocolate, sweet Madagascar vanilla bean, espresso, pipe tobacco, toasted oak, and a subtle line of crushed stone minerality. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, rich, and supple, showcasing a succulent core of dark berry compote, cocoa nibs, sweet baking spices, and cassis. It is characterized by its outstanding inner energy and an integrated, mouthwatering backbone of natural acidity that effortlessly balances its lavish mid-palate fruit density. The mouthfeel is broad, velvety, and mouth-coating, framed by plush, ultra-soft, and fine-grained tannins that glide into an extraordinarily long, rich finish accented by persistent notes of vanilla, toasted cedar, and dark plum.
