Product description
Cesar Marquez Perez, a rising star in the Bierzo wine region of Spain, comes from a family with deep roots in winemaking dating back to 1752. Focusing on micro-vinifications of old-vine Mencia and Godello from small plots known as "parajes," he emphasizes the unique terroir of each vineyard.
Tasting Notes: This red wine offers aromas of fresh red and black fruits, complemented by subtle floral and spicy notes. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with balanced acidity, presenting flavors of ripe berries, hints of herbs, and a touch of minerality, leading to a smooth, elegant finish.
Serving Suggestions: Pairs well with grilled meats, roasted vegetables, and aged cheeses.
Winemaking: 'Parajes' is crafted from a blend of 85% Mencia, 7% Alicante Bouschet, and 8% other local white and red varieties. The grapes are hand-harvested from vines over 100 years old, situated at altitudes between 460 and 750 meters across seven villages in Bierzo. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with native yeasts, incorporating approximately 50% whole clusters. The wine is then aged for 12 months in a combination of 225 and 500-liter barrels before bottling.
This wine reflects the authenticity and complexity of the Bierzo region, showcasing Cesar Marquez Perez's dedication to traditional winemaking techniques and terroir expression.
