Chateau Ausone 2019 is a prestigious red wine from the Saint Emilion Grand Cru appellation on the Right Bank of Bordeaux, France. Perched on a limestone plateau, the estate has been managed by the Vauthier family for generations, currently under the guidance of Alain and Pauline Vauthier. The winery is celebrated for its minuscule production and a winemaking philosophy that emphasizes the incredible minerality and purity of fruit derived from its unique 7-hectare vineyard.
Wine Description
This vintage possesses a deep garnet-purple or inky colour. The sensory profile is highly aromatic, featuring a bouquet of fresh flowers, blackberries, and raspberries, alongside evocative scents of star anise, violets, and sandalwood. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and concentrated, displaying incredibly polished tannins with a velvet-like texture and a 'killer line' of acidity. It offers multi-layered notes of cassis and subtle spice, concluding with a long, mineral finish with touches of pencil lead and white pepper. The varietal composition is a blend of 65% Cabernet Franc and 35% Merlot. While remarkably approachable in its youth, it has an optimal drinking window between 2029 and 2065.
