This structured and 'crystalline' red wine originates from France, within the regional Beaujolais A.O.C. appellation of southern Burgundy. Produced by Château Cambon the iconic natural wine estate founded in 1995 as a joint venture between the late, legendary Marcel Lapierre (Domaine Lapierre) and Jean-Claude Chanudet (Domaine Chamonard) this bottling represents a benchmark for pure, low-intervention Gamay. Sourced from 13 hectares of estate-grown, organically farmed vines planted between 1914 and 1950 in Saint-Jean-d'Ardières, the vineyard sits directly between the prestigious Crus of Morgon and Brouilly. Rooted in ancient granite, clay, and siliceous calcareous sand, these old vines benefit from a semi-continental climate featuring warm summer sunshine balanced by cool autumn breezes, enabling Gamay to achieve complete phenolic maturity while retaining a high-toned, mouthwatering natural acidity.

Wine Description

Château Cambon Beaujolais presents a luminous, translucent ruby-garnet color in the glass with bright violet reflections along the rim. Its sensory profile is exceptionally fresh, high-toned, and complex, delivering an energetic, juicy, and precisely focused portrait of old-vine Gamay. The bouquet opens with a soaring display of crushed wild raspberries, tart red cherries, and Bing cherries, seamlessly layered with complex underlays of fresh violets, peony, forest floor, subtle dried herbs, and a clean line of granitic minerality. On the palate, the wine is light-to-medium-bodied, sleek, and athletic, showcasing a vibrant core of crunchy red stone fruits, blood orange zest, and pomegranate. It is characterized by its outstanding inner energy and an incisive, mouthwatering backbone of natural acidity that cuts cleanly across the mid-palate. The mouthfeel is broad, weightless, and silky (gouleyant), framed by soft, melted tannins that glide into a long, dry, and mineral-driven finish accented by persistent notes of cherry skin, wild strawberry, and flint.
